Calcined kaolin of rock series, also known as chamotte or flint clay , has heat resistance and sinterability,mainly used for refractory materials and investment casting materials. It is formed by high temperature calcination of kaolin ore. The common colors of kaolin after high temperature calcination are: pure white, light gray, light Yellow brown.
The composition of calcined kaolin is stable, the teture is uniform, the structure is compact, the glaze is bright and magnetic. The main chemical components are AL2O3 and SiO2, accompanied by a small amount of Fe2O3 and trace amounts of Na2O, K2O and other impurities. The high-quality coke gemstone has a refractoriness of over 1750 °C. The main mineral phase is mullite, which accounts for 35 to 55%, followed by glass phase and cristobalite.
