What Are The Applications of Nozzle Brick in Steel Industry

Shuikou brick is widely used in steel industry, especially in continuous casting system, and its importance is self-evident. The following is the concrete application of Shuikou brick in steel industry:

I. Application in continuous casting system

Upper nozzle brick of tundish: slide gate device for tundish to control the flow of molten steel. This kind of nozzle brick has the advantages of convenient operation, low cost, high safety and long service life.

Submerged nozzle brick: installed between tundish and crystallizer, it is used to prevent secondary oxidation, nitriding and splashing of molten steel, adjust the flow state and injection speed of molten steel, and prevent mold flux and non-metallic inclusions from being involved in molten steel.

Sluice brick: In the process of continuous casting, the sluice brick is used to control the flow of molten steel, and its interior is designed with a neutral air chamber and a blowing channel. By blowing inert gas (such as argon), the falling molten steel is dispersed in a shower, thus eliminating harmful gases in the molten steel.

II. Application in Ladle

Ladle nozzle brick: used at the bottom of ladle to control the flow of molten steel. The nozzle brick and plug brick are used together to ensure that molten steel will not leak when not pouring.

Integral stopper: used in conjunction with nozzle brick to control the flow of molten steel, especially during continuous casting.

III. Other applications

Blast furnace system: In the blast furnace tapping system, nozzle bricks are used to control the flow of molten iron.

Non-fired (non-fired) nozzle brick: This nozzle brick has the advantages of short production cycle and environmental protection, and is suitable for continuous casting system.

IV. Material Selection of Shuikou Brick

High-alumina nozzle brick: suitable for pouring ordinary steel, with high fire resistance and corrosion resistance.

Aluminum-carbon nozzle brick: It is suitable for slide gate of continuous casting system and has higher corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance.

Zirconium nozzle brick: In some occasions that require higher fire resistance, such as the pouring of high manganese steel and stainless steel, zirconium nozzle brick can provide better corrosion resistance.

V. Installation and maintenance of nozzle brick

The installation accuracy of nozzle brick is very high, especially the nozzle brick in tundish, which needs to be closely matched with slide gate device.

During use, the nozzle brick needs to be inspected and maintained regularly to ensure its performance and service life.

To sum up, nozzle brick plays a key role in the continuous casting system of iron and steel industry, and its design and material selection directly affect the flow control of molten steel and the quality of billet.
