Clay refractory bricks for coke ovens have the following characteristics in terms of temperature change and adaptability:

I. Temperature adaptation range

The fire resistance of clay refractory brick for coke oven is generally 1580℃~1750℃, which is suitable for medium and low temperature environment, such as furnace door, riser lining brick, small flue lining brick, furnace top, regenerator sealing wall and checker brick. The temperature of these parts is usually between 300℃ and 1100℃.

II. Thermal shock stability

Clay refractory bricks have good thermal shock resistance and can remain stable in the environment experiencing rapid temperature changes. For example, the thermal shock stability of clay bricks produced by a company in Anhui can reach more than 50 times, up to 278 times. Its thermal shock stability mainly benefits from its low thermal expansion coefficient.

III. Adaptability to temperature change

Regenerator and small flue: the temperature of these parts changes sharply. The temperature difference between the upper and lower layers of regenerator checker bricks can reach 1000℃, and the temperature difference between ascending airflow and descending airflow is between 300℃ and 400℃. The thermal shock stability of clay brick enables it to adapt to this temperature change.

Furnace door and riser: the temperature of these parts changes frequently during operation, and clay bricks can withstand this temperature fluctuation.

Furnace top: The furnace top is affected by the erosion of hot and humid coke and temperature change, and the thermal stability of clay brick enables it to adapt to this environment.

IV. High temperature performance

Although the fire resistance of clay brick is high, when it is used at high temperature, the brick body may shrink, leading to the expansion of brick joints and air leakage. Therefore, clay brick is more suitable for parts with low temperature and large fluctuation.

V. Temperature adaptability in practical application

Furnace door and wall: Clay brick is suitable for parts with low temperature and large fluctuation, such as furnace door and part of furnace wall.

Regenerator and small flue: The thermal shock stability of clay brick makes it an ideal material for regenerator and small flue.

Furnace top: The temperature at the furnace top changes frequently, and clay bricks can adapt to this environment.

To sum up, clay refractory bricks for coke ovens have good thermal shock stability and adaptability to medium and low temperatures, and are suitable for the parts with low temperature and large fluctuation in coke ovens.
