Application Industry of Ceramic Fiber

Ceramic fiber is a fibrous lightweight refractory material, which has the advantages of light weight, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small specific heat and mechanical shock resistance. The following is the application of ceramic fiber in different industries:

I. Traditional industrial fields

Metallurgical industry: Ceramic fiber is widely used in thermal insulation of metallurgical furnaces, such as the refractory lining of electric arc furnaces, soaking furnaces, ladle covers, furnaces, plate annealing furnaces, continuous annealing furnaces and other equipment. Its use can significantly reduce heat energy loss and improve energy utilization efficiency.

Petrochemical industry: In the petrochemical field, ceramic fiber is used as thermal insulation layer of catalytic cracking unit, which can withstand high temperature corrosive environment above 900. In addition, it is also used for thermal insulation of high-temperature reaction equipment, containers and pipelines.

Power industry: Ceramic fiber is used as heat insulation material for electric boilers, gas turbines and nuclear power plants, which can effectively reduce the heat loss during equipment operation and improve energy utilization efficiency.

Machinery industry: Ceramic fiber can be used for heat insulation of high-temperature equipment, such as high-temperature furnaces and ovens. In addition, it is also used to manufacture high-temperature protective clothing, gloves, headgear and other personal protective equipment.

Ceramic and glass industries: ceramic fibers are widely used in high-temperature furnaces such as ceramic sintering furnaces and glass melting furnaces. Its low thermal conductivity and good thermal stability can effectively reduce the heat loss of furnace body and improve product quality and production efficiency.

II. Emerging areas

Aerospace field: Micro-nano ceramic fiber aerogels have excellent high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and heat insulation performance, and are one of the main materials for thermal protection of aerospace vehicles. For example, as a high-temperature thermal insulation material, mullite fiber cotton has a huge market prospect in the fields of aerospace and civil high-end materials.

New energy field: ceramic fiber is applied in thermal management system of new energy power battery. For example, SiOcomposite micro-nano ceramic fiber aerogels can be used in the inter-module and shell of battery modules as heat insulation materials, which can protect the battery cells through its low thermal conductivity and good heat insulation.

Environmental protection and dust removal field: ceramic fiber can be used for filtering and dust removal of high-temperature flue gas, and its high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance enable it to run stably for a long time under harsh working conditions.

Shipbuilding industry: Ceramic fiber can be used for heat insulation and fire protection of high-temperature equipment of ships, and improve the safety and reliability of ships.

Construction industry: Ceramic fiber, as A-class fireproof insulation material, can be used for external wall insulation and fireproof isolation belt. Its good thermal insulation and fire prevention performance can effectively improve the energy-saving effect and safety of buildings.

III. The field of personal protection

Ceramic fiber can also be used to make high-temperature protective clothing, gloves, headgear, helmet, boots and other personal protective equipment, providing security for people working in high-temperature environment.

IV. Other areas

Automobile industry: ceramic fiber is used for heat shield of automobile engine, wrapping of exhaust pipe of heavy oil engine and composite brake friction pad of high-speed racing car.

Electronic industry: ceramic fiber can be used as insulation material for high-temperature electrical appliances to ensure the normal operation of electronic equipment in high-temperature environment.

Fire-fighting field: Ceramic fiber can be used in fire-fighting products such as fire doors, fire curtains, fire blankets, mats for spark connection and thermal insulation covers.

To sum up, ceramic fiber has been widely used in many fields because of its excellent performance, which not only plays an important role in traditional industries, but also shows broad application prospects in emerging fields.
