I. Blast furnace lining materials

Calcined flint clay is widely used as lining material of blast furnace because of its high refractoriness and excellent physical and chemical stability. Flint clay, paint spraying and plastic refractory have been used for repairing and protecting blast furnace lining because of their low cost and excellent performance. For example, after high temperature sintering, flint clay-based paint spraying has good flexural strength and compressive strength, which can effectively resist the erosion of high temperature environment in blast furnace.

II. Production of refractory bricks

Calcined flint clay is an important raw material for making clay bricks with low porosity and anti-spalling bricks. These refractory bricks have excellent high temperature resistance, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and are suitable for high temperature environment in iron and steel smelting. For example, the low porosity clay brick made of flint clay clinker and soft clay has a compressive strength of 71MPa at room temperature and a softening temperature of 1480℃ under load.

III. Castables and paint spraying

Flint clay-bauxite castable is widely used in lining of converter, blast furnace and other equipment in iron and steel industry because of its excellent high temperature performance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance and thermal shock resistance. In addition, flint clay-based paint spraying can be used to repair blast furnace lining, and it has a good effect.

IV. Unformed refractories

Calcined flint clay is also used to produce unshaped refractories, such as refractory slurry and paint spraying. These materials have good construction performance and high temperature stability, which can meet the needs of complex environment in iron and steel industry.

V. Other applications

Calcined flint clay can also be used to manufacture ceramic fiber, refractory fiber and other products, which are used for thermal insulation and heat preservation in the iron and steel industry.
