Pouring temperature has a significant influence on the stability of plug bricks, which is mainly reflected in the following aspects:

I. Stability problems caused by low temperature

Solidification of molten steel: when the temperature of molten steel is low, the fluidity of molten steel becomes poor, and it is easy to solidify at the contact part between plug brick and nozzle brick, which leads to the adhesion between plug brick and nozzle brick, and the plug rod cannot be opened normally, thus affecting the smooth pouring.

Uneven thermal stress: If the temperature of molten steel is too low, the plug brick will be unevenly heated, which will easily lead to cracks in the brick body and even break or fall off during pouring.

II. Stability problems caused by excessive temperature

Decline of material properties: Under high temperature environment, the chemical corrosion resistance of plug bricks will be significantly reduced, and the viscosity of corrosive substances will be reduced and the fluidity will be enhanced, which will more easily cause corrosion to plug bricks.

Thermal expansion and deformation: high temperature will cause thermal expansion of the plug brick, which may lead to a smaller fit gap between the plug brick and the nozzle brick, or even deformation, which will affect the normal outflow of molten steel.

III. Positive influence of proper pouring temperature on stability

Ensure material properties: Proper pouring temperature can ensure that the properties of plug brick such as high temperature resistance, erosion resistance and thermal shock resistance are fully exerted, and reduce cracks and erosion caused by temperature fluctuation.

Optimize the fluidity of molten steel: Appropriate temperature can ensure the fluidity of molten steel, avoid the solidification of molten steel between plug brick and nozzle brick, and thus reduce the risk of adhesion and fracture.

IV. Suggestions on controlling pouring temperature

Accurately control the temperature of molten steel: Before pouring, ensure that the temperature of molten steel is within a suitable range to avoid being too high or too low.

Optimize the heating process: in the tundish or ladle, adopt appropriate heating methods (such as intermediate frequency heating) to maintain the stability of molten steel temperature.

Regular inspection and maintenance: during use, check the wear and cracks of the plug brick regularly and replace the damaged parts in time.
