The material characteristics of nozzle brick have many advantages, which enable it to meet the strict requirements of refractories in the process of steel casting. The following are the main advantages of the material characteristics of the nozzle brick:

I. High fire resistance

Shuikou brick is usually made of refractory materials such as high aluminum, magnesium and zirconium, which can remain stable in high temperature environment, and the refractory temperature can reach above 1500℃. For example, aluminum-carbon and aluminum-zirconium-carbon nozzle bricks show excellent oxidation resistance and erosion resistance at high temperature.

II. Erosion resistance and erosion resistance

The material composition of nozzle brick makes it resistant to chemical erosion of molten steel and slag. For example, alumina (Al₂O₃) has the ability to resist acid, alkaline slag, metal and glass solution, and is suitable for high-temperature oxidizing and reducing atmosphere. In addition, adding chromium oxide (Cr₂O₃) and other additives can further improve the corrosion resistance of nozzle brick.

III. Good thermal shock stability

Shuikou brick will undergo a sharp temperature change during use, so it needs to have good thermal shock resistance. Through special material design, such as adding carbon, silicon powder and silicon carbide (SiC) to the matrix, the thermal shock resistance of nozzle brick can be improved. For example, the unburned aluminum-carbon nozzle brick forms a loose layer of nuclei through the reaction between mullite and corundum, which significantly improves the thermal shock stability.

IV. High strength and wear resistance

The material design of nozzle brick makes it have high strength and wear resistance, and can withstand the high-speed erosion of molten steel. For example, magnesia-carbon, alumina-carbon and alumina-zirconia-carbon nozzle bricks formed by high-tonnage press have high bulk density and low apparent porosity, thus improving their wear resistance.

V. Oxidation resistance

The oxidation resistance of nozzle brick is very important to prolong its service life. For example, adding zirconium boride and other antioxidant additives can significantly improve the oxidation resistance and toughness of ALO-C refractories. This material can form a protective layer at high temperature to prevent oxidation and erosion.

VI. Structural stability

The material design of nozzle brick also considers its structural stability. For example, by adding specific additives (such as zirconium nitride-based ceramics) to the material, the porosity can be reduced, a dense barrier layer can be formed, and the penetration of alloying elements can be effectively prevented. This design not only improves the erosion resistance of nozzle brick, but also enhances its overall structural strength.

Shuikou brick can be customized according to different application scenarios and customer needs. For example, according to different steel grades and casting processes, nozzle bricks with different materials can be selected, such as high alumina, magnesium or zirconium. In addition, the performance of nozzle brick can be further optimized by adjusting the material formula and production process.

VIII. Environmental protection

With the improvement of environmental protection requirements, the production of nozzle brick is also developing in the direction of environmental protection. For example, some new unfired (unfired) nozzle bricks reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution in the production process.
