There are significant differences in industrial application of sleeve bricks with different chemical compositions, which are mainly reflected in fire resistance, corrosion resistance, service life and applicable scenarios. The following are the characteristics and application differences of sleeve bricks with several common components:

I. Clay sleeve brick

Chemical composition: the main component is clay, and the Al₂O₃ content is usually 36%-40%.

Performance characteristics:

The fire resistance is generally 1690-1710℃.

It has good thermal shock resistance, but its corrosion resistance is relatively weak.

The price is lower, which is suitable for the production of ordinary steel grades.

Application scenario: It is widely used for flat casting of ordinary steel, such as carbon steel.

II. High-alumina sleeve brick

Chemical composition: The content of Al₂O₃ is relatively high, usually 48%-75%.

Performance characteristics:

High fire resistance, generally above 1710℃.

Strong erosion resistance and good wear resistance.

Long service life, suitable for high temperature and high erosion environment.

Application scenario: It is mainly used in the production of special steel grades such as alloy steel and stainless steel, as well as occasions with high requirements on fire resistance.

III. Aluminum-carbon sleeve brick

Chemical composition: Besides high content of ALO, it also contains carbonaceous materials.

Performance characteristics:

Excellent erosion resistance and high temperature erosion resistance.

Long service life, can use more than 150 furnaces at one time.

Thermal shock stability is good, which can effectively reduce the deformation of tapping hole.

Application scenario: it is mainly used for converter tapping hole, which can significantly improve the service life and stability of tapping hole.

IV. Zirconium sleeve brick

Chemical composition: It contains a high proportion of zircon (ZrSiO₄).

Performance characteristics:

High temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.

Good volume stability at high temperature.

Application scenario: It is suitable for the production of high-temperature steels such as high manganese steel and stainless steel.

V. Chrome-magnesium sleeve brick

Chemical composition: It contains chromium and magnesium.

Performance characteristics:

High fire resistance and strong corrosion resistance.

Suitable for high temperature environment.

Application scenario: mainly used for the production of special steel grades.

The selection of sleeve bricks with different compositions in industrial application mainly depends on the specific technological requirements and production environment:

Clay sleeve bricks are suitable for the production of ordinary steel grades with low cost;

High aluminum sleeve brick is suitable for occasions with high requirements on fire resistance;

Aluminum-carbon sleeve brick performs well in high temperature and high erosion environment such as converter tap hole;
