There are significant differences between ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper and zirconia ceramic fiber paper in composition, performance and application. The following is a detailed comparison:

I. Composition and structure

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper;

The main components are aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) and silicon dioxide (SiO₂), and usually contain a small amount of iron oxide and titanium dioxide.

It belongs to amorphous fiber, and the fiber diameter is generally 1-10 μ m.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper;

The main component is zirconia (ZrO₂), which usually contains a small amount of stabilizer (such as yttrium).

It belongs to polycrystalline fiber and has higher crystallinity.

II. Performance

Temperature resistance:

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper: the maximum use temperature is generally 1260℃, and the long-term use temperature is about 900℃.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper: the highest temperature can reach 1600℃, and it can still maintain the complete fiber shape at 2200℃.

Thermal conductivity:

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper: the thermal conductivity is low, and the thermal conductivity is 0.12 W/(m k) at 800℃.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper: the thermal conductivity is extremely low, and the thermal conductivity is 0.0008 w/(m k) at -25℃.

Chemical stability:

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper: it has good chemical corrosion resistance, but it may release oxygen at high temperature and affect the atmosphere in the furnace.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper: high chemical stability, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, no destructive physical phase change at high temperature.

Mechanical properties:

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper: flexible in texture and high in tear strength.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper: it has higher strength and toughness and high temperature conductivity.

III. Application areas

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper;

It is widely used for thermal insulation of industrial furnaces, ladle and ladle.

Thermal insulation materials for automobile silencers and exhaust pipes.

As high-temperature sealing material and electrical insulation material.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper;

It is mainly used in high-tech fields such as aerospace, national defense and military industry, such as ultra-high temperature thermal protection materials.

Used for space solar cell diaphragm, alkaline cell diaphragm.

Used for storage and transportation safety protection of ultra-low temperature media such as liquefied natural gas, liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen.

IV. Other characteristics

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper;

The price is relatively low and the cost performance is high.

No asbestos, uniform fiber distribution, less slag balls.

Zirconia ceramic fiber paper;

The higher price is mainly due to the high cost of raw materials and the difficulty in processing.

Low outgassing rate in vacuum and longer service life at high temperature.

Ordinary aluminum silicate ceramic fiber paper is suitable for high-temperature thermal insulation and heat preservation in general industrial fields, while zirconia ceramic fiber paper is more suitable for aerospace, national defense and other fields that require high temperature resistance and chemical stability.
