In the baking and drying process of refractory mud, the following key points should be paid attention to to to ensure the performance and service life of refractory mud:
Before baking, refractory mud needs to be naturally dried and solidified. Usually, refractory mud needs to be naturally dried for at least 2-3 days to ensure its initial curing before baking.
During the baking process, the temperature rise curve must be strictly followed to avoid the rapid evaporation of water in the refractory mud caused by the rapid temperature rise, thus causing peeling or explosion. The heating curve is usually divided into the following stages:
Low temperature stage (100℃-200℃): slowly raise the temperature, keep good ventilation, and ensure the gradual discharge of water.
Medium temperature stage (200℃-350℃): This stage is most likely to cause local explosion, and the heating rate should be slower, and the holding time can be extended if necessary.
High temperature stage (above 350℃): according to the fire resistance of refractory mud, gradually raise the temperature to the use temperature.
During baking, all vent holes should be kept open to ensure that water vapor can be discharged smoothly. Poor ventilation may cause water to fail to drain, which may lead to bursting.
Heavy oil baking: avoid spraying heavy oil directly on the surface of refractory mud to prevent local overheating.
Firewood baking: the parts that are in direct contact with the flame heat up too fast and should be protected.
After baking, the cooling process should also be carried out slowly to avoid forced ventilation. Rapid cooling may lead to excessive internal stress in refractory mud, resulting in cracks.
After baking is completed, the integrity and performance of refractory mud should be checked to confirm that there are no cracks, falls off and other problems. If any problems are found, they should be repaired in time.
Through the above precautions, the problems of cracking and peeling of refractory mud during baking can be effectively avoided, and the construction quality and service life of refractory mud can be ensured.
